PJSC “RUSSNEFT” STARTS A PILOT PROJECT ON THE BAZHENOV FORMATION DEVELOPMENT

02.03.2017 INTERFAX

Moscow. PJSC “RussNeft” launched a pilot project on wells construction at Sredne-Shapshinskoye field in Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous district targeting the Bazhenov formation deposits.

The Company intends to drill 16 new wells at three well pads this year.

The formation deposits productivity is directly dependent on the abnormally high formation pressure which is due to zero primary migration of hydrocarbons into the traditional reservoir beds.

The resources of Sredne-Shapshinskoye field Bazhenov formation are estimated at over 40 million tons.

Sredne-Shapshinskoye field belongs to Shapshinskaya group which also includes Verkhne-Shapshinskoye and Nizhne-Shapshinskoye fields. The total recoverable reserves of hydrocarbons in the three fields are 98 million tons.

The license for development of Sredne-Shapshinskoye field is held by OAO NAK Aki-Otyr, subsidiary of RussNeft. The company performs oil production and treatment in Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous district. The Bazhenov formation reserves are non-conventional and lie at a depth of 2-3 thousand meters.

“RussNeft” views the development of Shapshinskaya group as a strategically important project.
