«RussNeft» provides support for dealing with pressing issues of indigenous peoples of the North

PJSC “RussNeft” takes an active part in resolving the urgent problems of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North living within the company’s licensed areas in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra.

Hydrocarbon production takes place across the Nizhnevartovsky, Surgutsky, Khanty-Mansiysky, Nefteyugansky, and Oktyabrsky districts of the region. The operations are located on lands spanning 17 territories of traditional land use, which are home to 70 families of the indigenous minorities of the North. More than 500 representatives of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North maintain a traditional lifestyle within the company’s licensed areas, engaging in hunting, fishing, gathering wild plants, and reindeer herding.

Each year, RussNeft allocates over 24 million rubles for compensation payments to the region's indigenous residents. Under the current agreements, this funding covers the purchase of equipment for forest camps, specialized clothing, construction materials, fuel and lubricants, while also supporting the growth of reindeer herds.

The company consistently pursues a policy aimed at preserving, supporting, and developing the traditional lifestyle, unique culture, and customs of Yugra’s indigenous population. RussNeft annually sponsors the Yugra Governor’s Cup reindeer herding professional competition. The company also supports the infrastructure development of the Intersettlement Center for National Crafts and Trades in the settlement of Agan, Nizhnevartovsky district, and provides direct financial aid to Indigenous families in need.
