The girls' team of FC Neftyanik (working settlement Novospasskoye, Ulyanovsk region) won a silver medal at the Russian football competition "Leather Ball", held among the junior teams.
FC Neftyanik team, sponsored by PJSC "RussNeft", represented the Ulyanovsk region in the play-off of the Russian competition in Smolensk, where 16 best junior teams of Russia took part.
Among their age group, FC Neftyanik team defeated their peers from Volgograd region with the score of 2:1, Moscow region with the score of 5:0,
Makhachkala with a score of 26:0 and reached the semi-finals, where they played with a team from Yekaterinburg, beating them with the score of 1:0.
In the final game Neftyanik lost to Slavator team (Leningrad region) in the penalty shoot-out.
FC Neftyanik players won silver medals. No team from the Ulyanovsk region has ever achieved such great results. Yana Gelvikh was named as the best player of the tournament; Victoria Kalmykova was recognized as the best shooter.
