Saratovneftegaz introduces ESP wells monitoring system

20.02.2013 Izvestia Saratov

Saratov. OAO Saratovneftegaz, OAO NK RussNeft producing subsidiary, continues introduction in its fields of ESP wells monitoring system designed by the company’s specialists. High output wells are equipped with this system in the first place.

The monitoring system is simple to operate, reliable and allows the personnel to receive promptly all required online information about the operation parameters of 22 wells equipped with electrical submersible pumps (ESP) via GSM communication channel. The data may be provided as mnemonic diagrams, graphs, reports and may be viewed via the common informational Web-portal of the Company’s automation system using Internet Explorer from any personal work station connected to the corporate data network. The monitoring system also provides for remote startup/shutdown of wells and automated circulation of SMS’s to the company’s specialists and dispatch services on the startups/shutdowns of the wells with specification of the status change reasons.
Successful introduction of the monitoring system exclusively designed by specialists of ZAO Upravlenie Promyshlennoi Avtomatiki (subsidiary of OAO Saratovneftegaz) allows to save significant funds since development of alike systems available in the market is considerably more expensive. This also allows to respond promptly to users’ requests regarding modification and expansion of the system’s functionality. Thus, data on the water volumes injected at Zarechenskoe field and data from the liquid meters (SKZh type) at Zapadno-Rybushanskoe field were gathered in 2012.
20 wells at Uritskoe field were also equipped with the monitoring system and common access was established for the Borets ESP’s remote control system under a surface equipment lease agreement (28 wells) within the capital construction program implementation in 2012.
Introduction of the monitoring system on 70 wells allowed Saratovneftegaz to reduce considerably the oil losses due to less downtime of the ESP’s and decrease the transport expenses for inspecting the wells at the fields. The ESP wells remote control coverage rose from 8.5% in 2011 to 23.5%, and reached 48.5% in 2012 calculated using the produced oil volume. 17 more wells are scheduled to be equipped with the monitoring system in 2013.
