Gifts for children of the North: the holiday reaches the most remote towns of Ugra

organizers of the charity drive arranged a grand celebration for the kids who live most of the year in remote camping areas in the Nizhnevartovsk district. The project was implemented by the Nizhnevartovsk branch of RussNeft together with the Rescue of Ugra public organization and the municipal administration of the Nizhnevartovsk district. The New Year's action has become traditional: the oil company annually allocates funds for gifts purchase for young dwellers of forest camping areass. Holding such charity is a good example of mutually beneficial cooperation between subsoil users and the indigenous population of Ugra. The Nizhnevartovsk branch of RussNeft produces hydrocarbons on lands of traditional nature use of 60 families of small peoples of the North. It should be noted that representatives of the indigenous peoples of Ugra, including the Khanty and Mansi, have lived on the territory of Ugra for over 10 centuries. The Khanty`s population is estimated at 31.5 thousand, while the number of Mansi is 12.5 thousand. The preservation of the culture, traditions and customs of the indigenous inhabitants of Ugra is one of the major focus areas of the company's social programs. For example, in September last year, RussNeft took part in charity programs aimed at promoting the distinctive culture and traditional subsistence practices of indigenous peoples of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. 450 thousand rubles were allocated for the implementation of social projects in 2022. The funds went to support folk artisanal handicrafts and traditional crafts. In addition, as tribute to the traditions, the company helps the northern peoples to organize their ritual festivals, such as the Day of Hunter and Reindeer Herder, the Day of Gray Crow Arrival and the Autumn Festival. A professional skills competition for the Ugra Governor`s Cup is held among the reindeer herders of the district. Among other things, in Raduzhny, with the support of the subsoil user, municipal programs aimed at expanding the material and technical base of institutions of education, culture and art, sports, youth policy, as well as at holding mass gathering events of municipal significance and developing public space in the urban environment, are implemented.
