The fish resources of the rivers of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug have been replenished: RussNeft reports about the release of 3.57 million muksun fry and 408 thousand nelma fry into the Ob River basin.
. In this way, annual compensation is provided for damage caused to aquatic biological resources and their habitat in the oil-producing regions, the company's press service explains.
The release of fingerlings into the reservoir is carried out by the Tyumen branch of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography under the supervision of the State Commission of the Nizhneobskoye Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries. This work makes it possible to systematically restore aquatic biological resources affected by the development of West Siberia oil fields. According to the oil company's press release, the volume of RussNeft investments in the fish stocking of the Ob-Irtysh fishery basin amounted to more than RUB 46 mln. in 2024. The press release adds that in 2024 more than 1 million seedlings will be planted on additional 264 hectares, thus increasing the volume of reforestation. Improved and certified seeds of forest plants adapted to the regional specificities of the planting site are used in forest reproduction. Pine seedlings, previously grown in nurseries up to a height of 12-20 cm, are usually used to restore forests in West Siberia. The reforestation program is being implemented in the territories designated by forestries to compensate for deforestation at oil production infrastructure construction sites. The press service also reports that the company pays close attention to compliance with environmental laws and preventing the negative impact of production activities on the environment.
