OAO Varioganneft started preparation for the 2014 spring flood

Raduzhny, KhMAO. OAO Varioganneft, subsidiary of OAO NK RussNeft, started preparation for the flood in 2014.

The company has developed an action plan for preparation for the coming flood in order to protect the environment. The plan details actions of all divisions responsible for operation of all facilities of Variogan oil block.

In addition, the company studied potentially affected areas and developed activities to ensure delivery of required equipment and materials to the sites. Backup power supply is arranged based on diesel power generation sets.

Bunds around the oil production facilities are inspected and rebuilt, if necessary, to prevent from melted water entering natural water open reservoirs. Hazardous facilities are also inspected jointly with emergency response divisions.

Emergency warning procedure was tested in the context of the eventual flood: oil field employees were specifically briefed on the issue, round-o’clock duty is introduced for the flood period, interaction with the local authorities and emergency response bodies is adjusted.

64 activities are planned overall at Varioganneft to prepare for the spring flood. Implementation of the scheduled action plan will allow the company to ensure the oil production in the standard operating mode and minimize the risk of emergencies at the facilities of Variogan block during the flood period.
